Psychology is the systematic and scientific study of human behavior, thoughts, and emotions. I want to make the science of psychology accessible and relatable, so individuals from all walks of life can benefit from its insights. By breaking down complex concepts and sharing practical knowledge, I hope to empower others to improve their well-being, enhance their relationships, and navigate life’s challenges with greater understanding and resilience.
My Background
I have a Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Maryland, where my research focused on school-based prevention, collaborative school teams, and teacher beliefs. I've held research and clinical roles, including evaluating children with autism, hyperlexia, and dyslexia at the Center for the Study of Learning, a functional neuroimaging lab at Georgetown University. Additionally, I've worked as a school psychologist in public schools, conducting psychoeducational assessments and developing academic and behavioral interventions. My teaching experience includes undergraduate and graduate level psychology courses at two-year and four-year colleges. I am also the author of Who the Hell is Jean Piaget? And What Are His Theories All About?, a book that explores the contributions of the renowned developmental psychologist.
Current Work
I currently teach undergraduate and graduate psychology courses at the University of Arizona Global Campus and contribute regularly to my Psychology Today blog, Beyond School Walls, where I explore the connections between psychology, learning, and life. I am also a lucky homeschooling mom of two exceptional boys!
